After his victory in the Two Wheel Drive Trophy of the FIA World Cup 2010, Eric Vigouroux intended to come back in force to take part in this year´s World Cup.
However, after several weeks of hesitation, Eric preferred to postpone this program: “Everything was set to sign up for the 2011 season, with the strong intention to defend our title and to aim even higher, depending on the competition”.
This plan did not consider all political events that hit some Arab countries from the beginning of the year, particularly Tunisia and Egypt, host countries of the main FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup races.
“Even if races are maintained, I consider that the actual context is not the best for it, especially not in this moment, considering the persistent instability in these areas. I think that it is necessary to leave time so the concerned population can find a new political and social balance before organizing car races on their territories.”
Therefore, all EVR efforts will be dedicated to the construction of the new ET3 prototype in the USA, where Eric has been installed for more than 3 years.
The ultimate goal will be to align a strong team in the Dakar 2012, with perhaps the arrival of an American driver at the steering wheel of Eric´s former Trophy Truck, while he controls the new one. “Several discussions with potential drivers are being held at the moment, in order to set up a solid team made of two similar racing cars.”
Meanwhile, Eric and all his team work on the preparation of this project with no rest, hoping to make a great “come back” in the FIA World Cup next year if all conditions are met.
