Filipe Campos, Portugal._ I compete in 4X4 races for 25 years now and every time I start a championship I always feel the same niggling nervous before the first race. We know all each other but is still nice to feel this rush before the first race, wondering how the car will respond, how the rest of the competitors behave, how many uncertain dangers will the circuit have and even the get together in race with my co-pilot JaimeBaptista and Team.
This year, due to restrictions imposed to cars such as ours, we have tried in the last few days, in Arraiolos, to prepare both X3 CC property of Yser Racing Team for the best performance possible. We will be literally walking on some unknown ground but experience tells me that the 4X4 has many imponderables and so the final result of Baja TT Carmim is open.
The team has changed the image and is equally or even more motivated to win than in the last three years we have been champions. Those who know Yser Racing Team and me can easily predict that we always enter to win. This has always been my philosophy of life and I know that the rest of the team shares my belief. So, with or with out any restrictions, we are here to fight for the win.
A final note for the nice surprise of Sven Quandt, head of the X-Raid, that brought us the only X-Raid BMW Mini in the world to tests in Arraiolos. My fellow rider, Bernardo Moniz da Maia, and me were very impressed. The engine is similar to the X3 CC but the suspension is more evolved, making it a better car and with a great growing potential.
