Though the course was extremely difficult for trucks, Elisabete Jacinto was very successful in today’s streak from the Tunisian Rally, where she once again made the best time among those competing in the same category, and even climbed two places in the cars and trucks joint general classification, in a competition included in the Cross-Country World Cup.
“Nearly all the streak was on dunes. When I started, I thought I would finish after nightfall. Fortunately, that was not the case. I am glad the organization did not give up this course, since it was a very technical streak, in which I managed to make good progress, and I became aware I no longer make the same mistakes recently occurred in Mauritania. Driving a truck, sometimes I had to proceed rather slowly, but I never stayed put. We had to stop three times because the tyre moved from the wheel. We stopped on two other occasions, one to repair the bumper, the other to try and help the Bowler driver. It was a very difficult streak and, when the sun was highest, it was no easy task to notice the features which help us decide on how to approach the dunes, but fortunately all went well”, stresses Elisabete Jacinto.
Tomorrow’s streak, with more than 250 kilometres, rolls between the desert and the mountain. Fast tracks, sometimes hard, often technical, with navigation. A lot of steering by the end of the streak and arriving at bivouac through the mountain.
