While Marc Coma continues to dominate the race its Stephane Peterhansel who continues to astonish. Second on today’s two specials combined, just 1.21’46 behind the Spaniard. “The reflexes are coming back,” explained Stephane. “The navigation is very difficult but then I haven’t looked at a road book for 13 years. However I am really enjoying riding my Yamaha 250, which is perfectly suited to this kind of terrain.” Aboard his big 530 Cyril Despres might be inclined to agree with him. Third on the stage he finished 1.43’73 behind the winner and 22 seconds behind Peterhansel.
Commented Cyril, “I haven’t got much in the way of an explanation. I am sincerely surprised. Is it down to the size of the bike? On this kind of terrain when you attack to get lost. But if you don’t you lose time! At least I didn’t get lost.”
Legendary figure in rally-raid, Cyril Neveu continues to astound. “Today I fell, not on the piste but on the liaison!” A few places ahead of him, Andrea Mayer is in 23rd position. “I backed off a little today so as not to crash and also to enjoy the scenery, which is magnificent.”
Tomorrow, the last special with which to decide this edition. Marc Coma can maybe manage his lead of 6’46.75 over Cyril Despres. A luxury that Rodrigues, Ceci and Peterhansel won’t be able to enjoy…
