The expert on scouting, creating roads, checking road books and driver of the opening car of for the most prestigious races, Stephane Le Bail reveals us some secrets for Pharaons Rally 2011, a race beyond of what you can expect.
Pharaons Rally 2011 will have more than 2600 kilometers to delight competitors, all divided in six stages and two bivouac locations, and as our curiosity keeps growing, we preferred to ask the expert which of the six is the most beautiful stage that waits for us. “There is not a stage more beautiful than the other. Each stage will be a different challenge, each one of them in a magnificent landscape…” says Stephane Le Bail, and due to his experience in this world of adventures, we fully trust him.
After hearing crews by the end of the 2010 edition, the organizer wanted the competitors to enjoy themselves as never before, and so the tracks of Pharaons Rally 2011 were born, first a trace on satellite images and then in Egypt with the scouting team to make it real.
“Last year some people said there was “kind of easy”, so this year we have some surprises. These year´s roads will grow in difficulty as the rally goes on and the peak will be in the middle of the race. There will be two dune ranges to cross and that might change the ranking all of a sudden and it will sure make the race more exciting,” tells the opening car driver while confessing that getting out wasn´t easy for him either!
According to Le Bail, drivers and riders can expect a little bit of everything. “There will be stages where steering will be a must, another that will make shine the best navigators, and of course, fast tracks for speed lovers, always surrounded by the most wonderful landscapes, but they must be aware until the finish line!”
Before the embarking takes place, we asked our expert for an advice: “Don´t forget your plates and shovels to get out of the sand, and take lots of water with you!” says Le Bail while smiling.
Pharaons Rally will start on October 1st. Are you ready?
