The French team Objetif Dunes comes to Pharaons 2011 to test a new generation material for car conception. From October 1st to the 8th, the SMG Buggy will show that car design can be environment-friendly!!
The recipe is quite simple: Soya, beet, sunflower and sugar… Biothan resin (a German brand of organic resin) gives a succulent mixture to be consumed without moderation! But before enjoying it, a long cooking time at high temperature is required.
Once off of the oven, the mixture looks solid and strange. This is the raw material of the SMG Buggy to be driven by Bernard Touzery and Benoit Maurice, a team labeled “Objetif Dunes” that will take the start of Pharaons Rally 2011 in Cairo next week. The four wings and other parts of the machine´s body are “organic”, which makes the vehicle lighter, thinner and resistant, and most of all: Ecological!
Created in 1987, Objetif Dunes, a team composed by men and women from Airbus in Toulouse (France), always work aiming sustainable development. Since they entered the cross country rally world, their yearly program´s includes the Baja Aragon in Spain, the 24 Hours of Morocco and in 2011, after an agreement with their partner “ATALIAN”, they decided to go for a toughest challenge.
“We always look for innovation,” explains Benoit Maurice, head of the team. “We are very sensitive to sustainable development. This is why we develop vehicles “environment-friendly” with paintings without chromates and with a Porsche 3.6l engine that works with bio-ethanol…” A proof that long time researches can end up becoming particular inventions!
But their innovation doesn´t stop there. Their colleagues of Airbus Research Department show themselves very interested by its design. In short term, these ideas could be intended for aeronautics. “Tests are regularly carried out to know its reaction to fire, to shocks, etc…” continues Benoit Maurice. The ecologist mixture from which the SMG Porsche Buggy enrolled to Pharaons Rally 2011 is fabricated might become the material for an Airbus!
Objectif Dunes chose Egypt to test their vehicle with pride, because… Pharaons is different!
