In style! This is how it will be the 25th edition of the “Baja Vodafone Portalegre 500”, prepared to have a decent celebration of its silver anniversary, confirming once again a vitality that makes the event a real reference at both national and international level.
Despite the time be far from ideal regarding the Portuguese economic situation, the truth is that Portalegre was again an irresistible appeal to the cross country competitors, and the good old days will be revisited, with more than 500 entrants based on 431 teams that made their entry.
Closed the entries, the situation in relation to the 25th Baja Vodafone Portalegre 500 is the following: 95 cars, 66 entered in the FIA event and 29 in the national competition. The total of the other categories is 336, with 155 bikes, 72 quads and 31 UTV/Buggy, 36 bikes in Classic Baja, 16 in Maxi Baja and 26 young riders in the “Mini Baja”.
Russian Leonid Novitskiy starts this Baja edition with 14 points ahead of Jean-Louis Schlesser in the decision of the FIA Cross country Rally World Cup, being noted that, contrary to usual, the French driver will enter at the wheel of a Mitsubishi L200.
In the bike category and despite the majority of the championships is already decided, the best Portuguese riders want to participate, like the two that dominated the last years editions – António Maio, winner in 2010, and the champion of this season, Mário Patrão – the world champion, Helder Rodrigues, Paulo Gonçalves, Ruben Faria, Luis Ferreira, and the Polish Jakub Przygonski.
