The start of Pharaons Rally, next to the Pyramids, was full of emotion for Jes Munk, not only for the atmosphere that reigned among Cheops, Kefren and Mykerinos, unveiled by the morning dusk behind the podium, the chronometer and the desert tracks. The Danish rider managed his race with intelligence and finished seventh.
“This morning, it was a huge moment to see once again the pyramids and to be in the desert. I took one minute penalty at the start of the special stage because I was waiting to be called but it isn´t so bad because I am here to enjoy it, get more experience and not to check on the ranking how I do.
I stopped to help Chaleco, and not and not to left him all the dust, and then, 200 km later, Marek Dabrowski overtook me and I finished the special behind me… Except for the last 50 km on the stones, he was a lot faster than I. So, I rode a lot for a while, which makes me feel good because it is a great way to learn navigation.
For the rest, I try to keep the engine but I went full gas once. I wanted to see what the KTM can do. When I found myself in the small dunes, I cried out loud inside the helmet to express how great it was. Light was good and it was like snow surfing, Magnificent! This is why I am here, because of the freedom you feel, that you cannot find anywhere else.”
Tomorrow, the special stage will be a loop around Tibniya.
