Last week Pewano had their new topcrew – driver Alfie Cox and co-driver Jürgen Schröder – visiting Sweden with more testing and preparations for the 2012 Dakar Rally on the agenda. The fine-tuning is now all set and with a very good feedback after the weekend. In less than 11 days the team will ship everything of to France – and on to South America – for the start in Mar Del Plata on January 1th.
Alfie Cox’s comment from the tests with Pewano:The PEWANO XC60 RR really exceeded my expectations for a new vehicle to take on the might of the Dakar both in terrain and against competitors. The test in Sweden this past week was an unbelievable experience. Much thought, research and design has gone into the construction, suspension, cockpit design and ergonomics. This is a package worthy of a podium finish! I have previously been involved in two major car teams and can for sure say that the engineers and management in Pewano “have gone the extra mile”. The passion of the Pewano team is contagious and I look forward to working closely with Hans Sönksen and the Swedish team Pewano.
And Jürgen Schröder agrees…My personal expectations for the upcoming Dakar Rally really went up during the last test session this weekend. If I compare the Pewano-testings with mine and Alfie’s last Dakar, I know we’re in a much better car now and if nothing goes wrong during the race, I’m sure we will end up in the top ten and with a few top 5 placement in the days stages.
