The 2012 rally-raid season will be starting at the end of February, but far from the Dakar sands it is the snow and ice of the FIA World Cup candidate event, the White Hills Russian Baja, where some of the world’s best off-road drivers will come together to celebrate their need for speed.
A 120km long stage (to be run three times) ploughed into the vast and frozen landscape by an army tank, following the natural contours of the land is what awaits drivers on the 3 day event, with a special ‘test day’ for foreign crews to get themselves used to the unique conditions on the world’s only international ‘winter’ Baja.
But Russia isn’t quite like the rest of Europe regarding things like paperwork though… so if there are any more crews thinking of participating, the organisers kindly ask that they get in contact soon so that there will be no rush for visas etc.
