Today, december 29th 2013, the SONANGOL AFRICA ECO RACE has started for the third consecutuive year in the Seaside resort of St Cyprien, close to the Oriental Pyrenees. As always the sun was présent even though there was a frisky brise, and the parking of the captaincy was fully crowed all day long. Actually, tenths of thousand of spectators were identified for the start of the African Rally, which is the only opportunity to see these types of vehicles in France
In the end, approximately 400 participants where présent at the administatrive checks and a bit less than 200 vehicles at the technical checks and security supplies. After a quite busy day, the Start was announced by Mr Thierry DEL POSO, mayor of St Cyprien on dock Arthur Rimbaud. The last chance of the year for the fans and spectators to applaud bikes, cars and trucks which will start there trip towards Motril in the south of Spain to board on the ferry boat for Morocco. The SONANGOL AFRICA ECO RACE will arrive on the 31st in the morning. Will then start the 5407km route of which 2992km of sélective sectors.
