Last weekend the crew Sólyom – Galbács was finally able to test their new HAWKING. As the goal was not discovering the end speed, the team chose a sandpit with deep, squashy ground as location. As a result of the all day long wearing they came to the conclusion that everything’s alright with the car.
Olivér Sólyom: “For sure, I have to befriend with the gearbox urgently. Often I change gears too late, I should do it earlier. It also turned out that the most endangered part of the car is the front bumper, that we managed to break into pieces. It seems like the car doesn’t like if I hit shrubs or small trees with it. But I was surprised at how easily it runs in deep sand. At first sight I thought we will get stuck here and there but in the end we drove through everything. It’s a good construction, I will enjoy racing with it.”
Mátyás Galbács: “In the first few laps the water and all the oils were getting hot but then we realised that it would worth switching on the fans… well, we have to get used to the car! My ‘office’ is very comfortable, I can reach everything, I only keep smashing my elbow in the rollcage, but an elbow protector will solve this problem. It was the first time I sat in this car and the difference to the KIA is surprising. It’s longer, it’s wider, it’s higher and much more black.”
Until the start of the first race of the new season there are many minor things to be checked on the car, but as a whole the HAWKING is ready to race. Sólyom Team expects all visitors in Túrkeve or in Lepanto, Greece.
