After a day full of struggles Zoltán Hangodi and the Klement Mosquito occupies the 14th position on day 2 of Túrkeve.
The Klement Mosquito doesn’t like mud. At least not that sea of mud that awaited the participants on the tracks of Túrkeve Cup. The T3 light buggy wasn’t designed for this kind of circumstances and the mud caused some damages on the Mosquito. The mud pouring into the cockpit is one thing, but the clayey mud stanched the cooling so badly that at the end the engine hardly had any power. In order to be able to continue the rally on Sunday, Hango missed the last special of the day but, of course, this entailed a huge penalty so the driver of Klement Mosquito slipped back to 14th position.
“Cross-country rallies are about variety, can’t all races be fast and dry with many turns. This kind of track doesn’t suit our car and the mud slows us down significantly and caused a lot of damage on the car. Now I am too far behind to be able to climb up and the mud stanched the car’s cooling so badly that that the exhaust pipe burnt and the engine hardly had any power. I am a bit disappointed but this is cross-country rally, there will be other tracks, more suitable for us. I hope we’ll be able to repair the car and start again on Sunday,” said Hango at the end of the day.
On Sunday three more specials near Kétpó and Túrkeve are scheduled for the drivers of Túrkeve Cup, the event ends with a prizegiving ceremony in Szolnok at 4 pm.
