After the first edition where hundred teams entered, mostly chinese, China Grand Rally will be back in September 2014 with one goal, host more foreigners competitors. Hubert AURIOL, Race director, reveals the outlines of the second edition.
12 stages, 6000 kilometers route across China in Bike, ATV, 4×4, Buggy, SSV and Truck
China Grand Rally will take place at the beginning of September from the 28th of August to the 15th of September, running over 6000 kilometers from East to West. Competitors will start close to the Great Wall in Beijing before they reach Golmud in Qinghai province for the rally’s arrival. Including twelve stages and one rest day, the event will successively cross the provinces of Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Gansu and Qinghai.
As specified by Hubert AURIOL « It is natural to continue when the success of an event is reality! The enthusiasm on the first edition of China Grand Rally has given even more wish to CGR’s partners to make durable a new marathon rally-raid in Asia. »
He continues « With last year experience, we wish to give the opportunity to all competitors from Europe and America to discover a much unknown area in the Center and West of Chinese territory. We have been working since few months with the Federation of Automobile Sports of China (F.A.S.C.) to design the route of the 2014 edition. »
A rally with international standard
As in previous year, organization and security will follow the international rules required by F.I.A. (ERTF GPS, tracking, medical helicopter, stewards). Participants will have a fluent chinese and english Competitors Relations Officer at their service in order to make easy the talks with the organizer about technical and sporting subjects. Daily briefings will be given in both languages as it was the case during the first edition in September 2013.
The kilometers of special stages will increase and the field will be as diversified as last year. The unavoidable Baidan Jaran desert, hosting the highest dunes in Asia, and Gobi desert will be obviously on the route. « As in previous year, we will work carefully to make a perfect and accurate road-book. Once again, Gilles Picard will be in charge of writing it! » concludes Hubert AURIOL.
Registrations open April 30th, 2014. China Grand Rally office in Paris will advise competitors in all the preparation of their rally: logistic assistance, rental of vehicle, transport, customs formality, translator, etc.
