Saturday was quite special at the Riverside Baja: the cross-country rally competitors joined the field of Bükfürdő Rally for a day of nine specials on short classic rally tracks. Zoltán Hangodi and the Yamaha HQ Buggy occupy sixth position of the „rally outing”.
It was not perfect but still a good day for Zoltán Hangodi and the Yamaha HQ Buggy. Although the driver didn’t really like the rally setup, by the end of the day he managed to familiarise himself with it and this meant 2nd and 3rd times in this very strong field. Hango closed the day in 6th overall but his gap to the leader is less than 2 minutes so for Sunday everything is possible.
„The setup of the car was now completely different and I had to familiarise myself with it. It took some time till I was able to drive it as I should. At the end of the day I already achieved 2nd and 3rd times but unfortunately I wasn’t able to win a special. For tomorrow, the cross-country rally tracks we reset the original setup, so the car will be higher again,” says the driver.
On Sunday a completely different race will be on schedule, now on cross-country rally-type route. The competitors will cover a 51 km track four times, two times in one direction, two times in the other, that means more than 200 km against the clock. Moreover, rain can also be an important factor, so a really exciting battle can be expected for the last day of Riverside Baja that will come to a close with the prizegiving ceremony at 6 pm in Beled.
