At the second day of Africa Race, Elisabete Jacinto wins her first victory. The OLEOBAN® team finished today’s stage in first place among trucks after having crossed the 377 kilometres of the second special, held between Jorf El Hamam and Tangounite, in 4h46m08s.
It was a long and difficult journey, but the Portuguese managed to print a consistent rhythm and were able to overcome all their opponents and ended the selective sector with a lead of 6m28s over the second truck.
With this result, and after today’s stage, the Portuguese trio formed by Elisabete Jacinto, José Marques and Marco Cochinho rises to second place among T4 and ascends to the 10th position of the auto/truck joint table. Currently, only four seconds separate Elisabete Jacinto of the first place of the category that is occupied by the Czech Tomas Tomecek.
The selective sector wasn’t easy for the Portuguese pilot: “this step was, again, very hard. It was long, snaking and very tiring. But today’s journey went very well without any problem and we always kept our pace. Above all we have shown that we have a solid and consistent progress and we managed to get a good result. Early in the stage, in front of the dunes, we saw that Kovacs had stopped and later we saw one of the Kamaz buried in the mud and we ended up benefiting the delays of our opponents. We are happy with this classification” said Elisabete Jacinto.
The third stage of the Africa Eco Race 2015 will take place between Tangounite and Assa and has a long selective sector of 433 kilometers. Assa is a city located in a desert region of southern Morocco. The landscapes of this third race day are a stunning beauty. However, the pilots will not have many opportunities to contemplate these images because the rocky and treacherous course, typical in these parts, will make their day very difficult.
