Imre Fodor Was fastest in Friday’s prologue at Duna Aszfalt Cup, followed by Antal Fekete and Marcin Lukaszewski, who clocked exactly the same time.
After administrative checks and scrutineering, on Friday afternoon Duna Aszfalt Cup, first rund of the Open Hungarian Championship and second round of Central European Zone Championship (CEZ), started with a 12 km prologue. In this short warm up near Kunszállás Imre Fodor and his new co-driver, Gergely Vass (Ford Ranger) was fastest despite a broken intercom that made the task for the rookie navigator much harder.
Behind Fodor, reigning Hungarian champion crew Antal Fekete and György Tóth (Toyota) and winners of the opening round of CEZ, Marcin Lukaszewski and Magdalena Duhanik (BMW) clocked exactly the same time, 4 seconds behind Fodor. A bit of surprise that 4th place went to Piotr Bialkowski (H3 EVO) for whom this is only the second race in category T1.
Erik Korda (HRX Ford) was not really happy with his 5th place, but as he said both the car and he has some ‘reserves’, so for sure they will be faster on Saturday. Runner-up in last year’s CEZ classification, Tomas Ourednicek was lucky even to being able to start, as before the scrutineering first they have problem with the Tripmaster, then with the brakes. Finally the team managed to solve both problems and Ourednicek finished the prologue without any problems but he wasn’t really happy with 9th place.
In the joint classification of bikes and quads, Zsolt Kauszi (Polaris) leads Mátyás Somfai (E-ATV) and Laller Horváth (KTM), in category “Challenge” the crew Gábor Arató – János Borzován is the leader in front of dr Tibor Szabó and Zoltán Nyaka on 2nd and 3rd place.
On Saturday two long specials of 110 km each are on the programme, followed by another 94 kilometres near Bugac on Sunday.
