The second stage of the Rally of Morocco had a signature of stones… Mountains and plateau gave competitors a day in stony tracks. And stones in the path can only mean a bad day for tires…. One flat tire for the Australians Garry Connell and Garry Whittle(N°355); two for Yasir Saedan and Laurent Lichlauchter, and three for Nicolas Duclos and Sebastien Delaunay were the result.
Yasir Saedan/ Laurent Lichlauchter N°302: “We passed Nicolas (Duclos) very fast because he was fixing a flat tire. Then, at the skirts of the first mountain, it was our turn to get a flat tire, and then a second one after CP1. We focused and drove like if we were walking on eggs to finish the stage, because we didn´t have any more tires to change in the selective section. It was a beautiful stage… with lots of dust.”
Garry Connell / Garry Whittle N°355: “Today it was only stones. It was beautiful, but you must drive very carefully and smoothly in this kind of soil. We had only one flat tire and the Polaris XT+ RZR900 XP40 works like a thunder. Ten kilometers before the finish line, we had to stop because of a problem of the belt that was getting hot, but nothing very bad. It was a good day and Garry, my co-driver, was not sick today and was happy to be there too.”
Nicolas Duclos / Sébastien Delaunay # 327: “I have trouble driving at 40km / h and in these rocks, the tires are a little fragile, we had three punctures … We tried to repare but it did not hold so we ended up on the rim … Tomorrow is another day! “
