The first major event of the 2014 season at Miller Motorsports Park will take place this weekend, June 21-22, as the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series makes its fifth annual visit to Utah.
The top off-road racers in North America will take to the MMP Off Road Short Course for Rounds 7 and 8 of the series’ 15-round 2014 championship. These include motocross legends Jeremy McGrath, Brian Deegan and Ricky Johnson along with longtime off-road stars Carl Renezeder, Rob MacCachren, Kyle and Todd LeDuc, Bryce Menzies, Rodrigo Ampudia and noted female racer Corry Weller as well as up-and coming talents Sheldon Creed, a 16-year-old X Games silver medalist, R.J. Anderson and Gavin Harlien. The Grand Marshal of the event will be MMA superstar Brian Caraway.
“We’ve been looking forward to this weekend’s Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series event for months now,” said John Larson, General Manager of Miller Motorsports Park. “Our great fans have really taken this series to heart, and thanks to them and the outstanding support by our partners Lucas Oil and the Utah Sports Commission, we are expecting a big crowd. The combination of high-flying action, family-friendly atmosphere and intense competition has taken Utah by storm, and we can’t wait to drop the green flag on all the action.”
The weekend will kick off with a pre-event party at The Westerner nightclub at 3360 S. Redwood Road in Salt Lake City on Friday night. A number of Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series competitors, including Todd LeDuc, Rodrigo Ampudia and others, will be on hand to greet fans and sign autographs.
