Nasca-Pisco, the last big special of the Dakar Rally, with lots of sand and dunes, was hard to complete for many riders and for Jes Munk that in spite of all difficulties arrived to the bivouac where the heat knocks hard!
On his way to the truck, the Danish rider cried out loud full of happiness over again the obstacles he surpassed to finish today’s special stage. “I was blocked in hole in the dunes for at least half an hour, but I made it! Marcel Butuza was trapped in the sand and blocked the way, and I wanted to get through by the side without attending… and I got into a hole of sand, I made a mistake and I passed to neutral…
I was totally trapped in the sand! And after I tried to get some sand out, Marcel wanted to help me and I put second gear instead of first and my bike was stuck again! I also had the beginning of an electric break down in the navigation instruments, but happily I felt the smell of plastic burning and I repaired quickly at the CP… I am very sad for Mika (Pisano) that broke his engine; it must be very hard the day just before the finish. The Dakar is an adventure every single day, and I am certain not to have had one “clear” day, but tomorrow we will arrive to Lima!”
