The Quad Cross Italian Ass, whose nickname is “Bull”, finally will take part in the race, completing the highlight roster
The presence of the Super Champion creates an automatic row among quad riders, blazoning the 20th edition of the Italian Baja, even if this will be his very first approach to this kind of race. This represents a first step towards Cross Country and desert competitions for Nicola Montalbini, who doesn’t know anything about characteristics and tricks of this specialty but hopes to start fulfilling his old dream. “Since longtime I’ve been feeling attracted by the charm of a high speed challenge through the long distances offered by a natural background– declares the biker of the Marche – and now it is time for me to go out from Crossodromes, thanks to the RF Moto support. I would like to learn navigating, in order to ride in rallies sometime, and I do believe the Italian Baja is a real good chance to start, as signed routes will assure me a gradual orienteering capacity in wide spaces”. Montalbini doesn’t aim to the Podium but to gain experience, and doesn’t dare to compare with the veteran protagonists of Bajas: “New race, new quad: I will ride a prepared Can-Am Renegade 800. I don’t have any expectance, in fact it would be possible that I will be the “Tail-light” of riders’ queue, just learning from them”. Nicola is humbly going to add another competitive experience to his racing career, facing a brand new adventure just a couple of weeks after the endurance in Argentina: “Training on sand to face the “Enduro del Verano” allowed me to be in good shape. All the rest is just a query, I mean tracks along the Tagliamento river seem to be quite hard, as well as driving an automatic vehicle, in addition to all complicated Baja rules… the only thing I can do is to study!”.
