Brazilians lead the second Leg both in class T1 and T2with their “cariocas”. Frantic day for Gadasin, admitted to start. Holowczyc seizes the second position with a gap of 33’’ ahead on Schlesser
Gadasin and G-Force to Hell and back, than in instable balance again: first of all the refuse during the technical controls to take part in the race (irregular Turbo device), then Jury refused their complaining, afterwards the FIA Court admitted them to the race, with 20’’ penalty from Holowczyc. Everything happened during the frantic night after the Super Special Stage “Royal Beach”. Gadasin, Vasyliev and Novytskyi started yesterday and the “Zar” hardly fought at once his duel on the first Sector (27’13’’) taking the lead with a gap of 6’’ ahead on Varela and 43’’ ahead on Holowczyc in the temporary rank. Then Varela moved into the lead on the second Section (17’32’’), ahead on Vasyliev , who legged 5’’behind, and Gadasin , who came in 12’’ slower. The duel is foughtonce more by Gadasin on the Mosaico A, who gained a final time of 25’44’’, with a gap of 19’’ ahead on the Brazilian and Holowczyc over 1 minute behind.
Positions overturned once more during the repeating of the Mosaico B Section: the best time has been gained by the “Monster” in 17’06’’, Varela reaches the arrival line with a gap of 9’’ but it seized anyway the first position in the Overall Rank because of a breaks problem suffered by Gadasin who needs assistance and has to retire; it is Holowczyc now who gained the second place with a gap of a 37’’ and the old Lion Schlesser is looking forward to reach the podium. After the stop and the regrouping in Fiume Veneto, without neither assistance nor refueling, cars come back to the Mosaico A Section and this time it is the Mini driver which gained the best time of 25’46’’, widening the gap ahead on Varela to other 10’’, while Schlesser (Original Buggy) reaches the third position. On the last Section of the day, Mosaico B, Varela confirms his ability (17’04’’) reaching the arrival line in a total time of 2h18’’02, with a gap of 33’’ ahead on Holowczyc and 3’05’’ on Schlesser. Vasyliev is K.O. (transmission problems), Gadasin could be back Tomorrow but he should recover a heavy delete, while his historical challenger Novytskyi seizes the fifth position in 5’52’’, behind the Polish Malysz. Foreign participants play as usual the starring role.
The first Italian driver is the champion in charge Codecà, of the Cross Country Rally Team, with his official Suzuki New Grand Vitara, who gained the tenth position in the Overall Rank. Colombo (Mitsubishi L200) suffered an engine breakdown which obliged him to retire after leading Italian drivers. Temporary first place for Brazilians also in the T2 class with Marcos De Moraes (Mitsubishi Pajero) ahead on the Spanish Xavier Foj (Toyota Land Cruiser).
BIKES. The FIM Bajas World Cup is missing Alberto Basso; another local expert, Alessandro Ruoso (Yamaha) from Aviano leaded also the second Leg with a total time of 1h31’34’’, ahead on Stephane Peterhansel (Yamaha) with a gap of 3’10’’ and Alessandro Botturi just 3’43’’ behind. Both fords crossing and hard soils severely tested bikers on this unique track. The sixth position is seized by Stefano Biscontin in a time of 9’37’’ (Yamaha), the fastest quad rider. In the Uem Campionship Yamaha quads gained all three steps of the podium. Temporary leadership of the Polish Lukasz Laskawiec (Yamaha Raptor) with a time of 1’42’’15, with a gap of 30’’ ahead on Simone Toro and of 3’57’’ on the other Polish Kamel. Italian FMI Championship is leaded by Nicola Montalbini (Can-Am) with a time of 1h48’28’’. TOMORROW’S “RAUSCEDO”. Same track as yesterday, but faced in the opposite direction for the third Leg, characterized by two Selective Sections. “Rauscedo A” (28,49 km): car start at 10:45am and 2:30pm; bike start at 8:05am, 9:55am, 1:15pm. “Rauscedo B” (38,00 km): car start at 11:25am and 3:10pm; bike start at 8:45am, 10:35am, 1:55pm. Prize giving ceremony at the Pordenone Fair at 4:15pm (bikes) and 5:00pm (cars).
